Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 Announced Across 24 Languages

 Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 winners announced for 24 Indian languages. Awards include poetry, novels, essays, memoirs and short stories. Each winner will receive ₹1 lakh, a shawl and a copper plaque at the ceremony in New Delhi on 31 March 2026.

The Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 are officially announced on 16th of march 2026. The award is recognizing outstanding literary works across the total 24 Indian languages. This prestigious literary honour is presented annually by Sahitya Akademi. It is India’s National Academy of Letters and it is to celebrate excellence in literature. This year the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 includes the total 8 poetry collections, 4 novels, 6 short story collections, 2 essay books, 1 literary criticism work, 1 autobiography and 2 memoirs.

Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 Selection Process

The Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 follows the standard selection procedure which is the established by the literary body.

This award process begin in January month 2025 when Sahitya Akademi released an open call invite the nominations for literary works in its recognized languages.

When the nomination phase completes the distinguished jury members representing each language carefully evaluated the submitted works.

The recommendations from jury were reviewed and finally approved by the competent authority of Sahitya Akademi.

The Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 recognizes literary excellence across multiple genres which are representing India’s diverse literary traditions.

The categories awarded in Shahitya Academy Award 2025 are,

Poetry - 8 books

Novel - 4 books

Essay  - 2 books

Autobiography - 1 book

Memoirs - 2 books

Short Story - 6 books

Literary Criticism - 1 book

Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 Ceremony Details

The Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 ceremony will take place on 31 March 2026 in the New Delhi.

Each recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 will receive

• ₹1,00,000 cash prize

• A ceremonial shawl

• An engraved copper plaque


The Sahitya Akademi is the India’s national academy and it is dedicated to promoting literature in multiple Indian languages.

It was Established in 1954 and this institution works to support literary creativity, translation, publishing and cultural exchange.
